Class Y6b 2-8-8-2
Mallet
Prototype Data:
The N&W had a fleet of 2-8-8-2 mallets of over 200 units. The first group came in 1910 and were classed as Y1. in 1918 with the takeover of US railroads by the USRA, the N&W received more of these classed as Y2 and Y3. Over the next 30 years more were built, each with upgraded and modern appliances. However, the power was still over 150,000 pounds of tractive effort.
The last group class as Y6b consisted of 30 units dating from 1948 through 1950.
This class was the pride of the fleet with regards to pulling power.
I saw the remaining Y6 in Roanoke in May of 2015 posed with the N&W A (2-6-6-4) and N&W J #611 for their redo of the Giants of Steam weekend. See picture included.
Model Info: Built by Katsumi KTM of Japan for Max Gray dating to around 1968. (a mere 20 years after the prototypes were built.)

Condition
I am selling this for a friend who is a prolific collector of locomotives. He considers this model an extra so is willing to sell it.
He has no layout but displays most of his collection.
I tested this and it runs perfectly. It shows no signs of use or wear.
This model does show some overall tarnish/patina consistent with other un-lacquered raw brass models from Katsumi.
This is a very heavy model weighing in at around 20 pounds, consider this if shipping internationally. Domestic shipping is free.
Includes the original box and packing
