MARX "JUBALEE" 0-4-0 COPPER STEAM LOCOMOTIVE (REDONE) WITH MATCHING NYC TENDER

Description

All pieces of this 396 locomotive have been chemically stripped, sanded, primed, painted, and the finishes baked on, with the exception of the side boards, which I left in the original condition.  The base of the matching 551 copper tender has had the same treatment, with the body left in original condition.
The finish of the "copper" boiler was obtained by polishing the stripped metal to a mirror like shine, then applying three coats of amber shellac. This is exactly how it was done at the factory eighty years ago. I took the liberty of applying three coats of clear over the shellac to prevent the shellac from chipping.
The motor has been completely disassembled, cleaned, oiled, greased, tolerances checked, armature resurfaced, reassembled, and vigorously tested. The E unit has also been serviced. The last two pictures are of the locomotive in the condition found. All parts are original, with the exception of the chrome plated bell, and smoke stack which are aftermarket items.
I put many hours into this project, but that's the fun part for me. There are additional pictures upon request.
